Katie’s award-winning films have been supported by the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her debut, Brooklyn Castle (2013), was a New York Times Critic’s Pick and earned an Emmy nomination for its PBS POV broadcast. Her latest feature, Small Town Universe (2024), has screened nationwide on PBS’s Reel South and at film festivals, winning the Global Health Competition Award at the Cleveland International Film Festival.

Drawn to intimate, human stories that reveal something bigger — about community, equity, and what connects us — Katie brings that same human touch to her branded work with Courageous Studios, a division of Warner Bros. Discovery, where her film What We Leave Behind won the Digiday Best Brand Series Award.

Her upcoming documentary, Queen’s Castle, follows young women breaking barriers in the male-dominated world of competitive chess — continuing her curiosity about how ambition, identity, and belonging take shape in unexpected places.
